May Highlights
Highlights of our staff and program accomplishments throughout May.

- Osborne’s Fulton Community Reentry Center was recently awarded the 2026 Urban Land Institute New York Award for Excellence in Adaptive Reuse. The project was recognized for its transformation of a former prison into a vibrant and welcoming place of opportunity and renewal for men over 40 returning from long-term incarceration. Osborne and partner Denham Wolf were recognized at an event late last month. Watch this video profiling the two finalists in this category.
- Staff from Osborne’s Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) led the opening session at the recent Pinkerton Foundation conference, “High Risk and Hard to Reach.” Program graduates and AVP facilitators Jamal and Charles joined staff members Tyree Hicks and T. Haywood to guide attendees through an interactive workshop. The audience was introduced to core AVP principles and learned strategies for connecting with youth and young adults drawn directly from the workshops in our programming. Attendees included Department of Correction Commissioners past and present Vincent Schiraldi and Stanley Richards, and Department of Probation Commissioner Sharun Goodwin.
- Earlier this month, six participants in the Bronx Osborne Gun Accountability and Prevention (BOGAP) program celebrated their graduation from the intensive, yearlong program. During the ceremony at Bronx Criminal Court, graduates reflected on their experiences and plans for the future. BOGAP serves young adults aged 16-24 with a first-time gun possession charge. Our talented team of credible messengers and mentors foster a lasting transformation of attitudes and beliefs, equipping young adults with the tools to build safer futures.
- The Pete and Thomas Foundation, founded by rapper and actress Megan Thee Stallion to honor her parents, recently hosted a special Mother’s Day celebration for Osborne’s Women with a Plan program. A group gathered at our Brooklyn office for dinner and a “paint and sing” experience, taking time to celebrate themselves as mothers and caregivers of incarcerated loved ones. At the end of the evening, the women received gift cards, Fenty beauty products, and handouts with affirming messages to carry with them. See more here.
